Developing confidence, fluency, control and expression in the voice by singing in a group. Understanding the physicality of singing and the unique qualities of our individual voices.
Working with a local SEND school to create a combined musical ensemble where children, and staff, stand shoulder to shoulder and enable each other to shine creatively.
Sessions where children are encouraged to develop their fluency and confidence when playing a tuned instrument in an ensemble. Combining singing and instrumental playing.
Using recorded music from different genres, along with our theremin, soundbeam and more - improving focused music-listening, evaluating the mood/feel of a piece, recognising repeated rhythms and patterns and keeping active through improvised/ choreographed movement.
Combining drama, movement and music - creating role play scenarios and making a mini show/ film, including a composed soundtrack using inter-related dimensions of music.
Designing and creating musical instruments; as simple as a junk modelled maraca or as complex as a banana piano. Recreating and responding to historical pieces of music from different genres, the “Electric Umbrella way”. You’ve never heard Nessun Dorma done like this…
Tell us what you need and we will create it! This could be themed for a specific topic.
Also… we can offer training/CPD sessions for staff teams on any of the above.

What people are saying about Electric Umbrella's Education programmes:
"We loved it all. The children were thrilled to experience live music and important conversations were opened up. The messages about inclusivity that your team delivered were so important."
"It was very heartwarming and provided an amazing message. My class have been singing the songs and have formed their own band this week since seeing the performance!"
"The staff were moved to tears at one point and then laughing at other times. The children of all ages were spellbound...We have a wide range of children with different needs at our school and they were all engaged. The staff loved how all the performers interacted and the children enjoyed being part of such a fun session."
"The children were wary (and quiet) at first but could soon see that learning disabilities are nothing to be frightened of. They were thoroughly engaged and enjoyed every moment!"
"[The Session] got them talking. There was some feedback about visitors that were 'weird' and obviously we spoke at length with the children who used that language to shift and evolve their thinking/fears. The VITAL aspect of your work with us was that this conversation happened and the issue and feeling of our children were raised and highlighted (so that they could be targeted in a focused way)."
"It opened up important conversations and allowed the children to receive important messages about celebrating individuality."
"Your workshop was amazing, truly inspirational and engaged over 800 children. Thank you!"
"I...cannot praise your team enough. It was a phenomenal experience enjoyed by the whole school - Nursery through to Year 6 - and the positive message was inspiring. We definitely want to do the same sort of thing next year and I will be directing my School Council towards promoting your charity as one of our fundraisers. In the words of the children, it was awesome!"
