Electric Umbrella Privacy Notice. 3 May 2018.

This Privacy Notice is to help you understand what data we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. This Notice includes information about our privacy practices summarises the key elements of the Electric Umbrella Data Protection Policy, a copy of which is available on request to Electric Umbrella.

Information we collect

Electric Umbrella collects personal information about members, member’s supporters, volunteers, financial donors, those who attend our events and others who partner with or express an interest in Electric Umbrella. This information includes name, email address, postal address, telephone number. For some it also includes photos, date of birth, next of kin details, bank details, details of criminal convictions and medical information. 

Electric Umbrella also collects information based on the use of our services. This includes:

- device information, such as the hardware model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information including phone number of the user;

- log information, including details of how a user used our service, device event information, and the user's Internet protocol (IP) address;

- cookies or similar technologies which are used to collect and store information about a browser or device, such as preferred language and other settings.


How we use information we collect

To comply with our safeguarding policy;
To run sessions and other events;
To perform fundraising activities;
To provide information on Electric Umbrella's services and events via social media, email, post and phone;
To review analytics on how our services are used in order to improve them.


Information we share

Information we collect may be shared outside of Electric Umbrella in limited circumstances. We do not share personal information with companies, organisations and individuals outside of Electric Umbrella unless one of the following circumstances applies:

1. With user consent. We will share personal information with companies, organisations or individuals outside of Electric Umbrella only after we have your explicit consent to do so. For example if you subscribe to our mailing list to be kept up to date with our events we will share your data with MailChimp to do so.

2. To fulfil our legitimate interests in promoting the mission of Electric Umbrella and raise awareness via social media and other online channels.

3. For external processing to fulfil our contractual obligations to you. We provide personal information to our affiliates or other trusted businesses or persons to process it for us, based on our instructions and in compliance with our Privacy Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures. For example we use PayPal to process payment for merchandise and MailChimp to send emails to you. 

4. To meet legal obligations or to protect your vital interests. We will share personal information with companies, organisations or individuals outside of Electric Umbrella if we have a good-faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of the information is reasonably necessary to either:

 4a. meet any applicable law, regulation or legal process.

 4b. protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of Electric Umbrella, our members or the public as required or permitted by law.


Security of your information

We take security of the information we hold very seriously. We use services provided by industry leaders such as Google and PayPal who are well resourced and equipped to keep information secure. On top of this we layer additional configuration of those systems and implement processes within Electric Umbrella such as minimising the amount of information held in hardcopy as an example.


Review and deletion of information

Individuals can request a copy of the information Electric Umbrella hold on them as well as enacting various other rights (e.g. requesting Electric Umbrella delete the information they hold on them). To do so please contact Electric Umbrella using info@electricumbrella.co.uk. 


Interpretation of conflicting terms

This Notice is intended to provide the key information about our collection and use of data by Electric Umbrella, and is consistent with the Electric Umbrella Data Protection Policy. Where there is any difference the Policy takes precedence.
